VOLUME 3 - ISSUE 8: May 5, 2025

Song for Volume III - Issue 8: Becky G and Karol G - Mamiii

👋🏽 Hello There

I woke up yesterday morning in a different country that was sunny and warm. Now, as I wrap up this newsletter, I’m back in a very gray LA. 🫠

Weirdly enough, time wise to me this month is basically over and I mean that in a good way. I just got back from Mexico City and now I have a few other things happening and then BAM! it’s the last week of May and that following Monday is June. And then I’m already in July/August because of other things.

At the same time, I’m blessed and highly grateful for the things coming my way but I’d like these months to be a lil longer and the work week go down to 4 days a week to savor weekends a bit more in the best ways possible.

I have to do a quick rant because I have to get this off my chest lol. I need people to stop acting they loveee matcha!! Go drink dirty chai’s instead, those are great too. It’s so hard to find good/great quality matcha powder, that I’m one moment away from just booking a weekend trip to go buy some and return to my favorite sushi place in Osaka (Shinchi Sushi Yujiro) and Takayama in Kyoto. You think I’m joking, I mostly am but this is an emergency (it’s not I’m being dramatic). Also, just a reminder you don’t need ceremonial grade matcha for your latte.

P.S. if anyone is going to Tokyo soon, please pick me up two of these. Thank you!!

Other random thoughts:

  • After a couple of conversations, I now know that many of you may not realize that the email subject lines are song lyrics and if you scroll to the bottom you’ll see what song. This part has moved to the top of the newsletter now

  • Wise words I heard on TikTok from Adamhartshug — if it doesn’t pay you don’t let it stress you and if it pays and stresses you ask for more money 😊

  • Cool NYC florist I’ve discovered

  • Pace shoes in Bangkok, Thailand is a place where you can customize your own shoes

See you again later this month!

Songs I’m Enjoying

ILYSMIH by Kali Uchis — Happy to see her releasing new music and the part at the end had me like 🥹 so cuteee

WASSUP by Young Miko — This song has a sample of a Lil Jon song and she more swag than some of your favorite rappers. Reminds me of Young Ma, and I love her songs because she raps fast but melodic enough for me to practice my Spanish when I’m singing along

Peacefield by Ghost - 80s rock a la Top Gun for that ‘big moment’ or when you are training for a comeback to demolish your enemy 😂😅

V.I.S. by Portugal. The Main - This song to me is falls into the caterogy of very Nirvana-esq chill angsty rock type of music

No Secrets by Jessie J and On Sight by Coco Jones — Both of these songs remind me of the music made by women in the late 90s/early 2000s in R&B

Niña con tarta de cerezas by Ángel Zárraga at Museo Soumaya

Museo Jumex is founded by Eugenio López Alonso is a contemporary museum. This museum has rotating exhibits within its space. Museo Soumaya is founded by Carlos Slim and named after his late wife. It is jam packed with over 60,000 pieces of art available to be viewed from Mexican and European artists plus so much more.

Museo Jumex and Soumaya are extremely short walking distance of each other. I spent about 2 ½ hours at Museo Soumaya and 45 minutes at Museo Jumex.

Movies

Sinners (In Theaters) - 10/10 and no need to say more than this

The Accountant 2 (In Theaters) - We all know I love a popcorn movie and this is definitely is one. The chemistry between Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal is great as brothers and they bring a great balance to each other. There are funny moments when you do and don’t expect them

Staying In

Black Mirror (Netflix) - If you haven’t watched Black Mirror every episode is different mainly dark and dystopian themes along with being spot on in certain circumstances regarding society. Also, skip episode 1 of the first season, please listen to me on this one. Otherwise I do find the show intriguing. Some of my favorite episodes are: Nosedive, The Waldo Moment, Hang the DJ, Black Museum, and Loch Henry
