šŸ‘‹šŸ½ Hello There

The year is almost over so of course I’m in a period of reflection and gratitude (as per usual but even more so).

After lots of therapy, one thing I’m grateful I’ve been able to find again and continue to keep is having balance. Whether it’s being out until wee hours of the morning or putting my pjs on at 3PM to 8am workouts or doing jello shots to celebrate Ohio State touchdowns at 9AM. I’m at the point where I don’t have any regrets on not doing something if anything I’m more glad I decided to do it then and not wait.

With all the robberies at museums, it makes me think how in a past life I think I was either a Queen or robbing museums and jewelry places because of my high taste levels haha. Between The Met, Spanish Heist and Louvre being robbed, I wonder if someone will finally pop by the British Museum and return those stolen artifacts to their countries of origin.

I saw this clip with Amy Sherald and Anderson Cooper and it made me pause and really think about what she says. As a Black American I don’t feel patriotic especially these days but it’s completely true especially in context that Amy gives how and why Black Americans are the most patriotic.

Here are some things I’ve discovered and wanted to share:

  • Shoplatte.com where you find local businesses to support and reach out to get yours added

  • Oude Waag has structured yet sensual designs

  • Art But Make It Sports combines two of my favorite things art and sports

  • Happy Jewelers in Orange County is the unofficial jeweler for the Dodgers in case you were like me and needed to know where KikĆ© Hernandez (rainbow sapphire necklace) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (blue sapphire necklace) purchase their jewels from

  • Destiny’s Details - Balloon decor serving Richmond,VA and surrounding areas

  •  Low rider tours of LA is something distinctly LA yet touristy in a good way

And I’ll end this issue reminding you Election Day is on Tuesday for those in the US. Don’t forget to vote in your local and state elections if you haven’t already!

P.S. If there are typos this issue give me grace because I didn’t edit like I normally do lol

All my beauty products (skincare + make up) are still organized from when I organized them about two years ago (containers from container store)

I did my five finger favorites + one bonus on TikTok for the Sephora sale. For the newsletter, I’m giving you ten picks (including those from TikTok) that I will purchase over and over again because I don’t buy things to just buy (and waste money) cause it’s a trendy item.

  1. OLEHENRIKSEN - Banana Bright+ Vitamin CC Eye Sticks for Dark Circles

I use this as concealer or a base for my concelear depending on my skin tone and it helps brighten up my face and look more ā€˜awake’

  2. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Aqua Resist Color Pencil Eyeliner

Place in my waterline to make my eyes ā€˜pop’ more

  3. FORVR MOOD - She Was Here Eau de Parfum

I spray on my clothes when it’s a thicker material because I shouldn’t be wearing perfume so if I’m risking it you know it’s a good scent

  4. CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect

I’ve used this product for almost ten years and I don’t feel like I need to say anything else

  5. LANCƔME - Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara

First spotted this mascara on a co-worker and needed to try myself, love this in combination with another mascara from Mexico (on my bottom lashes) for something more ā€˜modest’ yet can built to something bolder

  6. INNBEAUTY - Project Extreme Cream

If you like the Bader cream, then you need to check this out as a good alternative and a fraction of the cost

  7. LYS - Foundation Stick

Foundation prices have become obscene so I really appreciate that this is $27. The foundation is buildable and can offer medium to heavy coverage

  8. HAUS LABS - Blush

Love the pigmentation for this product

  9. TATCHA - Dewy Skin Cream

I have combination skin so this is buildable for when my skin is more dry. I use this during the day and the INNBeauty at night

  10. BRIOGEO - Scalp Revivalā„¢ Rosemary Pre-Wash Scalp and Hair Oil

I use this the night before hair washing or after working out instead of dry shampoo

BONUS TOUCHLAND - Hand Sanitizer

This is a pricey hand sanitizer but doesn’t leave my skin dry after using which ā¤ļø ā¤ļø ā¤ļø

Feeding America - Use this link to find your local food bank to make a monetary donation or volunteer. Money goes so much further than donating food as food banks can have partnerships to buy food in bulk, i.e. per LA Regional Food Bank website — $25 helps provide the equivalent of up to 100 meals.

Doctors Without Borders - With ongoing conflicts in Sudan, Congo and Gaza these are a few of the 75 countries that Doctors Without Borders provides medical and humanitarian aid to

Official Relief Website for Jamaica - Hurricane Melissa has passed leaving widespread devastation across the island of Jamaica

Albums

ā€˜Still EP’ by Nathanial Young (Jazz) - I wanted to turn the lights down low and light a candle after pressing play on this EP. Very chill and perfect for decompressing or if you want to just sit back and romantize something you are doing

LA people — Nathanial is popping up at 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105 at 8:30PM on November 15th on the bottom floor of the parking garage per his TikTok post

Los Angeles, CA - Private Eye - Artist Studio Sale on Nov. 9th (sign up to gain access).

Private Eye is a city-based investigative service releasing undisclosed studio works through exclusive events and direct correspondence.

Staying In

TV

Bon AppĆ©tit, Your Majesty (Netflix) - The premise of the show is that an award winning chef travels back in time to find herself crossing paths with the tyrant king from the Joseon era. If you like food and period tv shows this is the show for you. It’s humorous and entertaining each episode. I thought the cooking competition dragged out but didn’t mind it at the same time. FYI — This series is in Korean

So I haven’t watched a lot of TV on my TV lately because of Chinese short dramas. I blame TikTok for pulling me down this rabbit hole. Most are cliche and bad yet entertaining so I can’t stop watching. I would say they are usually simplistic soap operas that come with a lesson like a fable but you can watch them on your phone. Makes me think how Quibi was ahead of its time just not executed in the right way.

Here are a couple of revenge ones that are more well done if you want to check one out.

  • Female lead is reborn and seeks revenge against her sister and family

  • A man has a mental breakdown after his girlfriend’s tragic death and feigns recovery to seek revenge against those who are linked to her death
