VOLUME 3 - ISSUE 14: August 11, 2025

Song for Volume III - Issue 14: Far East Movement - Like a G6

👋🏽 Hello There

Took a summer vacation from the newsletter but now I’m back! I’ve completed all my travels (that I’m paying for) for this year. I’m trying to be more fiscally responsible and chill out for a bit. Also, considering how much traveling I did in the past 7 months, I’m sure I’ll survive if I don’t travel again until 2026 although it would feel weird considering the way I’ve traveled the past ~2 ½ - 3 years.

Random Things I’m Sharing With You:

  • If you had a Dooney and Burke bag, you’ve been that girl!

  • Are you a fan of Issey Miyake? Check out Connade

  • Incense cigarettes for the ‘aesthetic’ and setting the right ‘scent’

  • Two more brands you should check out:

    • Szabo Sihag

    • Subwae Studios

I’m currently craving an extra dirty martini with fried blue cheese stuffed olives because of a video on Tiktok, where a woman made them because she had them at Ralphs in Paris. Now if this was me three months ago, I would have booked a flight to Paris but like I said I’ve put myself on travel time out until 2026 (unless someone else is paying) so I guess I’ll have to try this at home. Will report back maybe next issue idk tbd.

This section is short because my brain is tired, I’ve been overstimulated by everything going on in the US and around the world where I just need time to not think about anything once I’m done with my day.

See you later this month!

P.S. Whoever is thinking about me please stop or say hi IRL. My sleep schedule this past week and a half has been so bad 😭

Jungle & Loom

Jungle & Loom in Washington DC

A curated plant shop with a curation of home good products like stationary, dried flowers, and vintage rugs. The woman working was not only super knowledgable but friendly and personable. If I lived here I would of walked out with two or three new plants. I loved the selections of plants and also how it wasn’t an overwhelming to decide what to choose from. Perfect for someone who is looking to bright up their home with plants or other small items for a more personable feel to their home

Salt & Sundry in Washington DC

I like to think this is a well curated general store. From home goods, clothing, perfumes and a few other categories this store could be a one stop shop for finalizing the decor in your home. I loved the ceramics and the outside of the norm tableware products that they sold. The staff here was friendly as well and didn’t feel rushed to leave even though I didn’t buy anything here. What is great is that this is a ~5 min walk from Jungle & Loom. If you’re someone who looks for more unique items when it comes to tableware this is a place you should stop in or if you’re looking to add a little pizazz to your home

I’m still thinking about this crab dish at Dōgon

Staying In

Movies

Kpop Demon Hunters (Netflix) - The songs are so catchy and it’s a fun cartoon movie. There’s a cute metaphor in embracing your flaws and not hiding them. It’s supposed to be a kid’s movie but definitely can be enjoyed by all ages

TV

Sandman (Netflix) - It’s a fantasy show but at the heart of the show; it’s a series about how even the most stubborn person well a God in this case can evolve and change when truly open and ready for it

Hunting Wives (Netflix) - What happens when you put guns, God and a small town in Texas together? A show where you really don’t know what to expect next. Seriously, every episode I was like wait what just happened in that scene lol. It’s a very melodramatic show that I liked even when I found the main character very annoying

Trigger (Netflix) - This show is VIOLENT but tbh I didn’t mind for the most because it has an actual use to the overall plot. I didn’t think I’d binge watch this show but I did watch more than 4 episodes in a row haha. If you love action movies with some type of plot this is for you  FYI — this show is in Korean

I haven’t listened to much new music recently as I’ve mainly been listening to the playlists I have but here are two albums and a DJ set that have caught my eye

DON’T TAP THE GLASS by Tyler, The Creator - I was listening to this while unpacking. At one point, I wanted to see how much of the album I had left; my first thought seeing there was only one song left ‘wait that’s it?!” This album is fun and something for everyone to sway around and dance to. Love the song with Yebba that samples ‘Knuck If You Buck’ in an interesting way. Overall I love that Tyler wants people to get into just not caring about people around them and to just dance because music is meant to be enjoyed to its fullest extent

Metro Boomin Presents: A Futuristic Summa (Hosted by DJ Spinz) by Metro Boomin - This album made me nostalgic for the early 2000s/2010s when rap music was fun most of the time and everyone wanted to dance and just enjoy themselves. I overall enjoyed this album from start to finish

Episode 690 of Soulection hosted by SNDYVIBES (only available on Apple Music)
