👋🏽 Hello There
It’s officially the time of the year where I avoid going to the Grove. Last time I went there (pre-Thanksgiving), it was so crowded that I had to park on the roof of the parking garage. Although it was too soon to have them up (IMO), the Christmas tree and holiday decorations did look pretty.

I’m the type of person who wants to celebrate each holiday first then we can move onto the next one. I feel like holidays don’t have time to breathe/be recognized for those that celebrate them. It also makes time go by even faster which always reminds me of something my Mom said to me before my high school graduation. “Time will go by even faster for you now that you’re 18” (or something like that). And course she was right, as I feel like I just celebrated my 30th in Mexico (hi CG and TC!).
This week’s edition of mewd. by mikala is a holiday gift guide for a mix of gifts and stocking stuffers. If you are bad at wrapping gifts or want to do something a bit different. For those that celebrate Christmas, I recommend you going to Nordstrom and getting personalized Santa Sacks. They’re both cute and reusable.
Before we get to the gift guide, here are some quick picks. I did a review of Joyce Soul and Sea in downtown Los Angeles. For some light reading check out this NY Times article on Mouna Ayoub who recently auctioned off her insane (in the best way) and rare items Chanel collection. Speaking of taste, does it exist in 2023? Do you remember jello cakes? If you’re in LA, these cakes by Nünchi are a more elevated and chic version of that. Did anyone get Moments of Love stuck in their head like me (due to a TikTok trend)? It reminded me of being a kid in the car with my parents when the ‘Quiet Storm’ segment would start on the radio. May December on Netflix is a playful yet heavy indie movie that stayed on my mind hours, even days later.
Oh, and if you‘re wondering if I bought a fancy pair of shoes. I didn’t instead I saved the money. Just kidding, I had an hour free and spontaneously decided to get my tragus pierced. I want to get two more piercings and then I’m done because I have tiny ears so I can’t do more than that, I think.
FYI this newsletter is likely to get clipped so hit the view entire message button so you don’t miss anything from the gift guide! And as always thanks for subscribing!
