VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 6: March 11, 2024

šŸ‘‹šŸ½ Hello There

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! So obviously this newsletter and the next are going to be all about me. Just kidding, but seriously though, how it is March already?! I swear I was just sitting in my pjs eating steak (cooked medium rare, of course) with a wedge salad and side of scalloped potatoes on New Year’s Eve.

If you’re in Los Angeles, Roberta’s doesn’t make the Bee Sting pizza anymore. I was also sad to hear Netflix cancelled The Brothers Sun. At the same time if this means the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians can start filming, I can be amendable to the cancellation. That movie and Devil Wears Prada are my favorite plane watching movies.

As I’m about to get a year older, I tend to reflect on both my past and future. When I’m a billionaire in the future, I would do something life changing for others like Ruth Gottesman did and I’d open up my own museum that is similar to The Broad or Glenstone Museum. Looking at the past, the woman I am now is so different than I was three years or even four months ago.

For this issue, I decided to make a guide on celebrating a friend, family member, or romantic partner according to their love language. If you don’t know yours, then you can take the quiz here. Making this about me, I’ve had a wonderful and fun time celebrating my birthday in various ways whether in St. Maarten, getting a massage at Ritz Carlton or watching a scary movie. Due to my family and friends, these celebrations probably contribute to one of the many reasons why I accept nothing less than #PrincessTreatment šŸ‘øšŸ½.

If your birthday was in January or February, I think this Keke Palmer gif sums up my thoughts but your half birthday will be coming up soon though! And of course, Happy Women’s History Month!!

P.S. For once I wasn’t annoyed with time ā€˜springing’ forward but I thought we voted to stop this nonsense in California? When does that change/law go into effect (muy pronto espero!)?

GIFTS

Gift-giving as a love language revolves around identifying interests, wants, or needs and honoring those through visual symbols of love

Monthly Subscription - Based on their interests whether it’s wine, beauty, food etc.

Pandora - Charm Bracelet (Create a bracelet with one or many unique charms representing that person)

Favorite Things Box - Create a box filled with their favorite items i.e. candy, skincare/beauty products or something you created

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION

Words of affirmation is a love language characterized by written or verbal language that makes us feel valued, seen, and heard.

Write A Love Letter - Writing a love letter is worth repeating again (mentioned in my Valentine’s Day guide) because you can never tell someone you love them too much.

ACTS OF SERVICE

Acts of Service is a love language characterized by recognizing needs and following through in honoring those needs, often making life easier or more structured

Plan the Celebration - My friends planned a ladies night celebration for my birthday. We had massages and then dinner at Sendero (Ritz Carlton, Los Angeles). All I had to do was show up (hi NG & CD!) and it was not only perfect but lots of fun.

Be Their Personal Assistant (for the day or week) - Running errands for them, and/ or doing other things related to their life so they don’t have to worry about it and can just relax.

Hire a Professional - Hire a cook or cleaning service to take some mundane tasks off their plate for that week or day. Or if they’ve been always wanting to organize a closet or area of their home, you could hire a professional organizer for them.

Cook for Them - If you don’t have a big budget you could make breakfast in bed or evening drinks (or mocktails) with a nice charcuterie and cheese platter.
