VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 3: January 29, 2024

👋🏽 Hello There

This sums up how it felt coming back into the office again after four months. I had a few people stop and circle back to me after their lightbulb moment. It was a funny experience but very appreciative of the warm welcome back I received from my co-workers. I’m extremely thankful and grateful for how things worked out, iykyk. Overall, 2024 is off to a lovely start for me as I’ve finalized my birthday plans and have idea of what the rest of the year will bring too.

Randomly or maybe not, I’ve come to the conclusion that Trader Joe’s is for people who grew up eating TV dinners/frozen food as kids. That pipeline has to be real as we know some of the best items are in the frozen food section of Trader Joe’s. I personally have been buying the japchae (hi SK!) almost every visit and recently tried the buffalo chicken poppers. My mommy told me about them as I put her on to Trader Joe’s fully when I came back to visit for the holidays.

Am I the only one who has been having issues with Google Maps and Apple Maps? When necessary I leave with enough time to arrive early but I’ve been late more than a few times because the ETA has been so off sometimes. Hopefully this is resolved soon, otherwise I don’t know what I’m going to do but using Waze will not be it.

TV

Fool Me Once - This limited series based on a Harlan Coben book kept me on my toes. It did start off a little slow but picked up each episode. It definitely didn’t end how I expected which I appreciated. If you enjoy murder mystery books or TV shows, this may be up your alley.

The Brothers Sun - I previously enjoyed the movies I saw Michelle Yeoh in. So, she was why I started watching this show. I kept watching because the story is fun and different. Also, the actor who plays Charles is attractive so that helps too haha. Enjoyed the show and would watch if there is a second season (which I hope there is).

Currently watching Griselda and Expats, will give my thoughts once finished.

Movies

Beekeeper - This is the dumbest but yet best thing ever at the same time. I did enjoy this movie. It gave me exactly what I was expecting with an over the top story line plus lots of action and things getting blown up. I love movies like this because it’s the perfect popcorn action movie. Which are great for mindless entertainment or decompressing from a hectic day.

Anyone But You - This movie was perfectly casted and I enjoyed it so much more than I expected. It was funny, lots of good one liners and a bit cliché in the best way. I forgot how fun it is to watch rom coms in the movie theater. It also made me think about rom coms from the early 2000s like Brown Sugar or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Let’s trade a couple of superhero movies for more rom coms please and thank you!

READING

As someone who read Into the Gloss occasionally and loved Glossier when it first launched. I thought this was an insightful and intriguing read not only about Glossier but it’s founder Emily Weiss. I definitely laughed at the bit by the author when describing who the ‘Glossier’ girl is. As I may or may have not felt called out on why I used Glossier products in the past haha.
