VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 23: December 2, 2024

👋🏽 Hello There

As the year wraps up, I have to say I’m thriving more than expected and so are my plants. It’s a beautiful thing to see and as my Grandma says I’m ‘Blessed by the Best’!

November was a phenomenal month because…

  • The guacamole and chips vendor came back to the farmers market I go to

  • Kaytranada concert (I first saw him at Coachella in 2019 so to see him again and wow a much larger crowd in a stadium with such ease was no surprise and fun night! hi TC and DA!)

  • My trip to Japan was so much fun (like my biggest issue was figuring what I should wear that day)

  • I saw my family 🫶

  • My mom sent me four containers of my favorite peanut butter because I haven’t found an alternative yet

But like Kylie Jenner this was the year of realizing things and pushing myself well out of my comfort zone. Me last year would have laughed at the thought of solo traveling. I started off with baby trips (2-3 days) then went 0-100 by going to a country for two weeks; where I don’t even speak the language. Well…now I know some things and could practice with a 2 or 3 year but I digress.

Other random thoughts in my head — Am I the only one who didn’t know until recently that Danny DeVito directed Matilda? Also, very annoying how neutral the offering in stores are right now. I want a colorful wallet, not black, beige or brown 🫠

Gift guide next issue because lbr most of you aren’t holiday shopping until like the week before Christmas or will still be shopping until Christmas Eve.

MUSIC

Conversation with my youngest sister who seems to think highly of her music taste haha

I think that this has been a great year for no skip albums from women artist in my opinion. Of the albums I’ve been able to listen to from start to finish, the only male artist until Kendrick dropped his GNX album on my list was Kaytranada. So, currently have that on repeat since first hearing it in Osaka.

Other songs/albums I’m currently listening to:

  • Amarie - Free Fallin’

  • Berlioz - open this wall

  • Tanerélle & IMANU - For Her (Chemtrails) feat. Machinedrum

  • Atlanta Space Quartet - Orion’s Belt Buckle

Staying In

Movies

Abigail (Prime Video) - Predictable but good horror movie. It gets more gory as the minutes go by in case you are squeamish. A couple of twists that aren’t predictable and add a nice touch.

Despicable Me 4 (Peacock) - Funny movie for all ages to enjoy. I love children’s movie because they never fail to keep me entertained.

GTMax (Netflix) - Popcorn movie but make it French. Robberies that involve fast bikes, and an investigation by a relentless detective/officer. FYI movie is in French

AFRAID (Netflix) - What happens when AI takes over this world? This movie gives you an idea of what that could be. It’s a popcorn thriller movie.

Blink Twice (Prime Video) - This movie is a wild ride. Metaphors for real life situations or even the general experience of women. So many ways to slice this movie at a deeper level but I won’t do that here. Zoe Kravtiz did her big one on this. FYI this movie contains graphic physical and sexual violence

TV

Special Ops: Lioness (Paramount+) - This show can definitely be seen as military propaganda but I really enjoyed it overall. It goes into the psychological aspects of having to isolate yourself when you are embedded into a world that you are trying to take down.

Cross (Prime Video) - A suspected suicide needs further investigation by a very attractive detective who may not be emotionally available but is very intelligent.  This investigation leads a much larger crime being committed. This is a gory thriller series that kept me engaged.

Mr Plankton (Netflix) - It’s a dark comedy, I cried tears and laughed while watching this series. Has a well rounded cast and you become invested in the journey although you know how it ends FYI series is in Korean

Song for Volume II - Issue 23: Flo Milli - Never Lose Me
