VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 19: September 23, 2024

đŸ‘‹đŸœ Hello There

There are less than 45 days until election day so make sure you are registered to vote! If you need to double check, go to vote.org. I had the funniest view on my LinkedIn profile recently

Does this mean my letter is in the mail? Can’t wait to have my own owl 😉. I also think the world is resetting as they may be able to finally find the missing plane from flight MH370 and the celebrity shower curtain photo has been identified after so long too.

I am a bit annoyed because a few new shows I started this year have been cancelled and I’m at the point of wondering why I should even start a new show if networks or streaming platforms won’t give them time to grow an audience with a second season. To me, there are few shows that have given me a perfect first season but I have appreciated when writers took the time to develop characters and the world they live in like for example Succession. The first season was enjoyable/okay but the second season is when I became a big fan of the show. Also, if you didn’t know right now we technically have two moons for about two months. Kind of cool and interesting but also scary because it could of impacted the planet instead which 😅.

September 15th marked the start of Hispanic Heritage Month so this issue and the next will be decided to highlighting Hispanic owned businesses. If you don’t know the different between Hispanic, Latinx/o, and Spanish, watch this video.

See you in Spooktober!

Movies

Encanto, Book of Life, and Coco (if you didn’t know these are children’s movies but great for all ages IMO)

TV

FYI all series below are originally in Spanish (dubbing is available claro que sĂ)

I am Georgina (Netflix) - I’m not a big football/soccer fan but I thought this was an interesting series and a better look at person who many people (including myself) don’t know much about. It’s a reality show/docu-series about Georgina Rodriguez who is a influencer/businesswoman, and partner to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Club de Cuervos (Netflix) - This is a funny yet dramatic show about the battle between two siblings fighting for control of the family's football squad - the Ravens New Toledo. Between the players and family, I’m not sure who is more entertaining. Writing this makes me want to do a rewatch soon!

Always a Witch (Netflix) - This is fun show not popcorn fun though because there are serious situations and moments. Carmen is a 19-year-old who is a slave and a witch. Before being burned at the stake she is offered salvation through time-traveling, so she is transported to modern-day Colombia. She begins a new life in a world she knows nothing about while trying to fit in.

Control Z (Netflix) - SofĂa works to uncover the identity of a hacker, who is spilling the secrets of her high school classmates. I love a good high school television show where it has a good balance between over the top moments and drama that is realistic.

Queen of the South (Netflix) - American remake of La Reina del Sur (also on Netflix). Teresa Mendoza goes from a woman fleeing from Mexico after the death of her boyfriend to one of the world’s wealthiest women who started her own drug empire. This show is enjoyable and good popcorn fun! I always enjoy watching shows where women are in positions typically assumed by men.

Song for Volume II - Issue 19: Shakira feat Wyclef Jean - Hips Don’t Lie
