VOLUME 2 - ISSUE 12: June 3, 2024

šŸ‘‹šŸ½ Hello There

Honestly this issue is sponsored by vibes because time is flying by so fast. How is it June already?! I’ve been lazy with my summer planning but if I channel the Virgo in my astrological chart then I’ve buckled down and finally booked a flight or two by the end of this week.

I mentioned SesameLA in the last newsletter but found out it closed down about a week ago. You can still visit Sesame Dinette in Long Beach, CA, though. It’s the owner of SesameLA parent’s restaurant. I feel like a lot stores or restaurants are shutting down before I can go to them or return. It’s gotten really hard out here for people running a business or going on tour (speaking about J.Lo and The Black Keys’ cancelled tours) as a lot of people’s livelihoods are dependent on someone’s purchasing power. Plus, the entertainment industry is still dire after the strikes. I feel like someone needs to do a Thanos snap. Reset things back to summer 2021. The vibes were just right then although…COVID (it’s still here but you know what I mean).

If you didn’t know, Ticketmaster was hacked so change your passwords ASAP, okay? Speaking of music, Apple Music released their top 100 albums. With the number one album, I overplayed this album when I was in elementary school which most likely annoyed the shit out of my mom. I was singing lyrics so passionately about things I knew nothing about at the time. Now, I’ve had some or many life experiences so the album hits differently and still love it from start to finish. I also didn’t realize how many songs I knew from the Stevie Wonder album that made the list. I shouldn’t be surprised IYKYK lol.

Here are some of my current obsessions because I know you’re interested šŸ˜‚

  • Billie Ellish - CHIHIRO

  • Ariana Grande - True Story

  • Miles Davis - Flamenco Sketches

  • Miki Ikhifa x Nubalix - Nkosi’s Fantasia

  • Beyonce - Tyrant

  • Heated mat pilates (no surprise there but miss reformer though!)

  • My next two BIG vacations

  • Farmer’s Markets

  • London Fog cookie from Fleurs et Sel

  • I love Chamoy sauce

  • Almond Malk (it’s expensive but it’s actually almond ā€˜milk’ vs the other brands)

  • Photos taken on film (looking into getting a camera but buying disposable in the meantime)

With this issue, starting a new series within the newsletter. A mini travel guide based on all the places I’ve been. These guides will be based on recent and past trips I’ve taken. See you later this month!

Oh, and one last thing - a quick poll regarding referral program

P.S. Why did I just find out Kali Uchis is from Virginia?! Between her and Tommy Richardson, Virginia has become cool again. Pharrell, Missy Elliot and Timbaland made it cool when I was growing up then it wasn’t lol.

Staying In

Movies

Honeymoonish (Netflix) - A romantic comedy movie about two people quickly marrying each other for the wrong reasons but slowly fall in love with each other without realizing it — FYI movie is in Arabic

Love Divided (Netflix) - Another cute romantic comedy and the pacing is just right. A man and woman share a wall and the sound proofing is non existent. She a pianist and he an inventor of unique games. It’s the classic from enemies to lovers troupe — FYI movie is in Spanish

Poor Things (Hulu) - Such an interesting movie. Not sure if I mean that in a good or bad way yet still šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. It’s definitely an art house film in it’s full kookiness.

TV

Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix) - If you like mysteries being solved plus witches, ghosts, and more - this is for you. A fun supernatural procedural show.

Fallout (Amazon) - Based on a video game where a nuclear bomb was dropped in the 1960s. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, definitely takes two episodes or so to get into if it’s your type of show. The music from the 60s serves as an interesting contrast to the desolate world full of violence and people (ghouls too) trying to survive.
